Urban Water Institute - Palm Springs

‍ ‍

Thoroughly enjoyed moderating the panel, "Beyond the Labels: Understanding Generational Changes in the Workforce," at the 2026 Spring UWI Conference. Now with five generations in the workforce, the panelists shed light on expectations, preferences and dispelled myths. Huge thanks to Liji Thomas CPA (TX), CIA, CRMA, SHRM-CP, William McDonnell and Hailey Rowbatham, EIT.

A few takeaways:

  • Alignment with employer values is paramount to all

  • Ability to grow key for Gen Z

  • There is no "one size fits all” approach

  • Celebrate the diversity and perspectives of different generations.

Fall ACWA Conference - San Diego

Honored to represent the ACWA Foundation as Vice Chair. Shared progress over past three years with this new 501c3 focused on building the water workforce of the future. Events included hosted lunch to share career opportunities with college students, a “how-to” on starting a high school internship program, and packed reception jointly sponsored with FLOW.

Leadership America Session 2 - New Orleans

Resilience was the topic for Session 2 of Leadership Women in New Orleans. There with Sacramento friend and colleague Dr. Janice Thompson. A special story from Mark Raymond, Jr., founder and CEO of Split Second Foundation who turned a life-changing accident into a foundation to help others with disabilities. He reminds us that leadership is about "how you respond to adversity" and was inspired by a Sacramento organization, SCI-FIT (Spinal Cord Injury Functional Integrated Therapy).

Urban Water Institute Fall Conference - San Diego

September’s Urban Water Institute Annual Conference in San Diego focused on all aspects of risk, “Safety, Security, Sustainability - Time Talent Treasure.” I enjoyed presenting on “People Power to Manage Risks: Leadership Durability Key to Sustainability” and my Co Facilitator Liji Thomas from MWD stressed the importance of technology and innovation to attract future workforce and streamline. Great interaction and ideas from the audience! Also wonderful to honor retiring Executive Director Ane Deister and all she has done to elevate UWI!

Leadership America, Session 1 - Boston

In Boston as a member of the 2025 Cohort of Leadership America, a nationwide experiential leadership program. This continues my involvement in women’s leadership and builds on my experiences as a member and later as Executive Director of Leadership California.

Giving back is so important to me, whether by serving on non-profit organization boards, or contributing through donations and sponsorships that benefit communities and industries.
